December 2007
December 15, 2007
Desperate for God has been the theme. Throughout the week, the Hinsdale Adventist Academy leadership, some school board members, and members from the local churches have been meeting to pray and admit that we are indeed desperate for God. School finances were the trigger that brought us together, but the reality is that we are broke in more ways than one. We need God desperately! As we continue to celebrate Jesus’ coming this Christmas season, it is my prayer that the symbolism of God coming to ordinary peasants in Bethlehem will not be lost on us.
I would like to extend a special invitation to each of you to be present at Judy-Ann Neal’s Commissioning this afternoon. We are really looking forward to celebrating with Judy. The program will begin here at Lord of Life Lutheran Church at 5:00pm.
Don’t forget that we will be having a Cookie Swap tomorrow at 5:30pm. Erika and Oscar have invited everyone over for an evening of fun. Bring cookies if you want to participate in the swap. Bring yourself if you don’t care for cookies. All are invited!
Ingrid Mueller would like to invite each of you to the Christmas Eve service at the Woodridge United Methodist Church. It will begin at 11:00pm. The church is located at 2700 W. 75th St., Woodridge. This is a lovely service with carol singing, choral music, and candlelight. All are invited to attend and celebrate what this season is truly about.
I wish you all safety thorough the holiday season. Hadassah and I will be vacationing in Florida, December 24 - January 1. We are looking forward to meeting Hadassah’s new nephew, Micah.

Many of you can remember the days when Harvest Ingathering was a going concern. Churches raised thousands of dollars for aid projects. Well, Harvest Ingathering is still a going concern, but it is now called Hope for Humanity. This year the Burr Ridge Church Board made the decision to support Hope for Humanity as a Christmas Project. We set the goal of raising $1,500 this year. Consider prayerfully how you can be part of the hope for humanity.
Many of our school and church families as well as Hinsdale Adventist Academy are facing significant financial challenges. Therefore, the HAA Board is launching a special prayer initiative on behalf the school and its five constituent churches starting Saturday night, December 8. It is time to seek not only the blessing and intervention of God, but also to seek God simply because He is worthy of our worship and praise. Please join us for a 45-60 minute prayer gathering each evening: Saturday, Dec. 8, 4:30 pm, HAA Chapel; Sunday, Dec. 9, 7 pm, Hinsdale Church Chapel; Monday, Dec. 10, 7 pm, Burr Ridge Church; Tuesday, Dec. 11, 7 pm, Hinsdale Fil-Am Church; Wednesday, Dec. 12, 7 pm, Broadview Church; Thursday, Dec. 13, 7 pm, HAA Chapel; Friday, Dec. 14, 7 pm, All Nations Church; Saturday, Dec. 15, 4:30 pm, HAA Chapel. For church addresses and schedule visit: HAA.org.
Wednesday evening after prayer meeting (December 5 at 8:00pm), we will be having an Outreach Committee Meeting.
