I’ve just learned of an exciting new resource—Rick Warren's Bible Study Methods: Twelve Ways You Can Unlock God's Word. This is a clearly written guide to basic bible study. You’ll be able to buy it in a Christian book store or order it from amazon.com (currently on sale for $10.19). If you are looking for a way to invigorate your Bible study, I recommend that you get this book or one like it!

On Thursday, we will be having another work bee at the Archer property. If you are interested in helping, we will meet there at 5:30pm. There is plenty of work for everyone. You may also enjoy the trip there on the brand new I355 extension. Just get off at the Archer exit and go East a quarter of a mile!

The Hinsdale Adventist Academy boiler project is nearly complete. Just in time as winter seems to be upon us. The project continues to need your support. Please dig deep into your pockets and give generously to “The Little Boiler that Could, But Just Can’t Anymore…” On Tuesday, there will be a special time of prayer at HAA. We want to take some time to lift up our school and seek God’s leading. Please join us as we come together at 8:00pm.

Debby Davis and I and the rest of the team had a very profitable and fun trip to Honduras last week. Please continue to pray as we plan for the main trip in January.

Church Board Members, please remember our regular Board will be held this Monday at 7:00pm.

I want to remind you of one of the primary building blocks of faith—Bible study. As much as we throw the concept around, it is sometimes hard to know how to start studying the Bible. Here are two simple suggestions. First, you can simply start reading it. Pick a story and read through it. Underline or jot down things that impress you. Second, try a topical search with the help of a concordance. This week I was preaching about coveting, so I spent some time looking up verses that talk about coveting. What does the Bible really say about marriage, pets, or heaven? Give it a try.

On Thursday, the work party met again at the Archer property. Work is going very smoothly thanks to the expertise of people like Corwin, Toby, Jason, and Alberto. We should have the space ready for carpeting and completion in the next couple of weeks.

The Hinsdale Adventist Academy boiler project is well under way. Fortunately, the weather has continued to be a little forgiving. The project continues to need your support. Please dig deep into your pockets and give generously to “The Little Boiler that Could, But Just Can’t Anymore…”

Next week I will be away on a “mission trip planning trip.” Hadassah and I have been asked to go on the mission trip with the hospital this January. As part of that trip, I will go with the planning team to Honduras November 14-18. George Babcock will preach here at Burr Ridge next Sabbath, and we will have our Thanksgiving Music Program.

On Monday, we had a very productive church planning meeting. We managed a first for Burr Ridge: outline a church calendar for a full year in advance. We should have the calendar ready to distribute by next weekend. Thanks to those who came to the planning meeting!

One of the things that happened at our planning meeting was a renewed push to complete the work on our old building in Lemont. The idea is that we can use that space for creative outreach opportunities. On Thursday evening Leigh, Toby, Alberto, Oscar, Jason, and I went down to work. We were able to make a huge dent in the painting. We are planning another work party this coming Thursday, starting at about 5:00pm. Please let me know if you are interested in helping.

The Hinsdale Adventist Academy boiler project is under way… just in the nick of time. Fortunately, the weather this fall has been forgiving. This project continues to need your support. Please dig deep into your pockets and give generously to “The Little Boiler that Could, But Just Can’t Anymore…”
