September 2007 September 29, 2007 It is good to be home. After a wonderful vacation in The Joint Venture Committee continues to meet regarding our land development/church building project. We are making head way on the sale of the Madison Street/Burr Ridge property. We are also moving to acquire the final small piece of property in Lemont. Once these two transactions are completed, we will be able to enter the development phase of the project. The Church Board asked that I begin regularly sharing with you the financial status of our church. We want you to know where your money goes and what the real needs in our church are. Burr Ridge is a generous church and giving is up from last year. However, we are not quite meeting our church budget. Our need for the next few months is to bring up our giving to the Burr Ridge Combined Budget. See below:
I hope most of you were able to cease from your labor last Monday. Hadassah and I were able to go to Please continue remember Judy Neal and her family. Judy’s mother died suddenly last Friday. The funeral was held on Wednesday in Hadassah and I are going on vacation next week. We will be leaving Friday the 14th and coming back Monday the 24th. Hadassah is soliciting special prayer for the backpacking trip we are going on. Next week we will be having a special Sabbath in the Park. Special thanks to Debby Davis for doing most of the organizing. We will meet at the Lisle Park District on September 1, 2007 It has been meeting week at Burr Ridge. In the midst of all the meetings, I began hearing a common theme that I liked. There seems to be a strong desire among you to grow spiritually and to actively seek out ways we can share God through service. The Elders would like to know how we can help you grow spiritually. Are you interested in Bible study? Spiritual mentoring? Accountability? Let us know. The Outreach Committee would also love to hear your ideas. In what ways would you like to serve? What is your passion for ministry? Singing at retirement centers? Volunteering at a food pantry? Hosting grief or abuse recovery programs? Again, let us know. Together we want to grow in closer to each other and to God. Next week we will be having our regular Burr Ridge Potluck. I would like to remind each of you how important it is for you to bring a little extra food. At a recent potluck, there wasn’t enough food to feed everyone. A foresighted individual had to go and purchase extra food so that folks wouldn’t go hungry. This doesn’t happen very often, but we need each of you to make sure you bring plenty of food to share. On September 15, we will be having Sabbath in the Park. Debby Davis and the Social Committee are organizing this event. We will have a laid back service and plenty of time together. There will be no services here at Lord of Life. Stay tuned for more information. If you have any questions, talk to Debby or I.
